RaonSecure Declares Vision to Expand Korean Mobile ID (K-DID) Technology Globally
RaonSecure has announced its vision to expand Korean mobile ID (K-DID) technology worldwide. On the 29th, during the "2024 SecuUp Seminar" held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul, RaonSecure CEO Soon-hyung Lee outlined this global vision for K-DID.
The technology RaonSecure plans to release as open source is the blockchain-based digital ID platform "OmniOne Digital ID." This open-source initiative aims to increase the utility of decentralized identity (DID) while promoting the standardization of related technologies. RaonSecure's strategy includes establishing a nationwide network to promote DID adoption and positioning itself as a leader in setting global digital ID standards.
CEO Lee emphasized that the goal of K-DID is to contribute to humanity by promoting a successful model for national mobile IDs and leading the global standardization of digital IDs.
"Our aim is to showcase the excellence of Korea’s digital platform government and K-DID to the global market," said Lee. "We plan to offer mobile IDs to those in identity verification blind spots, contributing to the welfare of global society."
The company also presented a concrete plan for this vision, including establishing a foundation to support developers and community activities engaged in open-sourcing the OmniOne Digital ID. RaonSecure seeks collaboration with international organizations such as the United Nations (UN) and the World Bank (WB), which are actively working to provide digital IDs in developing countries.
Lee noted, “Around 1.3 billion people worldwide lack identification, leaving them vulnerable in areas of welfare and security and hindering access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and political and economic activities. K-DID can contribute to global society by helping prevent human rights abuses, including child labor exploitation and human trafficking."
