On November 1, 2024, an "Open Source Briefing for Private Sector Companies" was held at the headquarters of RaonSecure in Yeouido.
At the briefing, representatives from public institutions such as the Ministry of Interior and Safety and the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, as well as from platform companies and financial industry firms, including Naver, Toss, Kakao, NH Nonghyup Bank, and KB Kookmin Bank, participated. Over 50 people attended, showing interest in the open-source release of OmniOne Open DID.
OmniOne Open DID, which was introduced at the "Security-Up Seminar" jointly held by RaonSecure and DID Alliance on October 29, is the open-source version of OmniOne Digital ID, developed with RaonSecure's proprietary technology. Starting with the mobile government ID in 2021, it is expected to be used for the mobile resident registration ID by 2025, incorporating RaonSecure's core technology for all mobile IDs in Korea.
In this recent open-source briefing for private sector companies, Vice Chairman Lim Do-hyun of DID Alliance introduced the association and shared a vision and strategy for expanding globally with OmniOne Open DID as the representative K-DID of the nation. Many private companies discussed ways to participate and cooperate in accelerating the global vision of K-DID.
Kim Tae-jin, the CTO of RaonSecure and head of the Open Source Technology Working Group, provided a detailed explanation of the technical aspects of the open source, expressing hope that OmniOne Open DID would be used and collaborated on by various companies and developers, not only from a technical standpoint but also in terms of diverse services and business applications.
We look forward to the future of OmniOne Open DID, extending globally under the brand of K-DID, beyond South Korea.
